Oak City Days

"Oak City Days is held the third week of August every year when the citizens of Oak City host a two day event to celebrate the founding of the city. It has also been known as ward days and homecoming in the past. Oak City Days is kicked off with a parade on Friday evening followed by an ice cream social. Following the ice cream social there is a program. There are also various competitions such as a Rook tournament. On Saturday a town lunch is prepared which feeds over 1000 people. Craft booths, kids games (including a children’s fish catch), as well as adult fun fill the day. The festivities end with a dance under the stars with music by the local band The Moonlighters."

Almost every year we attend Oak City days. The kids love hanging out with their cousins and running around town! Personally I like to go so I can dance the night away with my husband. Thanks Ken and Karen for making us look like a fool dancing the Cadril with you every year! Tim pretends like he doesn't enjoy it but what is that smile on his face the whole time? Here are some pics of this years escapade.

Here is Macee catching her fish. I was surprised! In fact I didn't even buy her a ticket to fish because I thought she would want nothing to do with touching a slimy fish! Boy was I wrong. She was so excited to jump in that tank full of fish and catch one. Sure enough she caught one! (With a little help from mom of course:)) She was one proud girl! Good job Macee!

Next it was Seth's turn to catch a fish. The fish were pretty little this year so they were extra fast. With the help of mom Seth got him a fish as well!

Seth is a proud boy holding his fish he caught.
K giving Macee a Piggy back ride...she sure like him!

While we were in Oak City Seth got to ride his bike....with NO training wheels. That's right folks! I can't believe how brave he is. Tim only had to run behind him once and the rest is history! He didn't even crash once. He was so proud of himself. Tim promised him that once he could ride without training wheels then he could put numbers on his bike. So sure enough Monday we were in at the bike shop picking out numbers. The lucky number is...65! He is going to be wanting to race before I know it!!  Good job little buddy. We are so proud of you.

Tim is seriously such a good dad to his kids. Here is just one example of why I love him so much and we are so blessed to have him as ours!
Of course Macee needed a ride too!

Pretty much sad I didn't get to see you for more than a teeny second! I am sure Koen would have thought Seth was SO COOL on his bike!
